FLORIDA CHRISTMAS VACATION, 2008
Influences: The biggest influence in my life, I would have to say my Dad. My Dad saw something in me at the very young age of 5. My Dad worked with me very hard all through my life.He was a man who believed in hours of hard practice sessions. His famous phrase was, if you don’t feel the music ,you shouldn’t sing the song. I lived by those words my whole life.Which ,was a good thing.I also need to mention a very special person who was a big influence. That would be the great Candy Hemphill Christmas. As a little girl I would stand beside the record player singing right along with Candy. I use to try so hard to sound like her. Growing up I have listened to a lot of gospel artist , but no one could top Candy Hemphill in my book. All my life I had dreamed of meeting her and to someday sing with her, well our God is great! Not only did I get to meet her, but I now sing in her praise team at the Jefferson Street Bridge , where she reaches out to the homeless and less fortunate.Today I am 37 years old, and still to this day, she is still at the top of my list. In closing I want to say THANK YOU to my wonderful Dad and to my dear friend, Candy Hemphill Christmas.Maggie
