Transcendence Experience

About Me

Formed around the inspired, conscious songwriting of frontman Madhava, The Transcendence Experience bring forth a lively, eclectic fusion of Reggae, Psychedelia and funk laced with prominent Eastern melodies. Part of the bands’ appeal is their ability to draw people onto the dance floor with their wild energy, pounding funky grooves and soulful vocals. Never far away from a spontaneous change of direction the live set keeps the audience on it's toes, it's not unusual to see everyone present dancing with their hearts and souls. Transcendence Experience sprouted organically from the musical underground early in 2008 and have gigged at a multitude of parties, venues and festivals across the country and further a field.Madhava, the driving force behind the band, was raised between India, America and the UK. He brings an array of world influences to his musical melting pot. A charismatic performer, his strong, distinctive vocals interweave between the sounds of guitar, bass, violin, drums, harmonium and percussion.Madhava met up with James in 06 to produce his album T.I.M.E. which led to a magical gathering of like minded souls forming The Transcendence Experience................

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Madhava is the main songwriter, sings lead vocals and plays a harmonium (made in a village he knows close to Calcutta). He was raised between India, America and the UK, and brings diverse influences. His background includes working with Kula Shaker and appearing on the TV performances of ‘sound of drums’. With deep spiritual roots, he sings about a new wave of love and consciousness that is building in the world, and provides a voice for all those who feel in need of a connection with the natural mystic.

Garry Low plays drums and percussion and records/produces the band’s recordings. He has worked with musicians including: the "Headhunters", a collaboration with Andy Garbi, Their critically acclaimed debut album, 'Millennium Time Bomb' featured, among others, Nigel Kennedy, Kadir Durvesh and Martin and Aine Furey. Headhunters toured extensively, headlining both The Avalon stage at Glastonbury, and the Big Green Gathering. Garry has also performed throughout the UK, Ireland and Mainland Europe, with Suns of Arqa, Celtarabia, Royal Shakespeare Co, Bohinta and Martin Furey. Garry runs a studio in Malvern, and is currently offering great summertime recording deals. See his myspace for more info.

James (aka Judo Being) plays violin and guitar and works as a multi instrumentalist and producer in his own right. Working in music studios, playing various instruments in bands and djing from an early age, and then spending a year mixing and promoting parties as Unauthorized, Bristol (UK) he made his home in Malvern. Interchanging guitar and violin, James’ style ranges from fast and furious Coltrane wall-of-sound to heart-piercing minimalism.

Toby plays guitar and sings. Full of creative energy and soulful funky grooves, he is also a multi instrumentalist and teaches guitar and bass. An accomplished guitarist, he loves going with the inspiration of the moment and adding new and exciting directions to the music. Toby and James both play lead and rhythm interchangeably, and their unpredictably interwoven guitars are a trademark of the band.

Dan plays bass guitar, together with Garry, driving the groove and grounding for Transcendence Experience. Musical experience includes playing bass with pigbag when they briefly reformed in the nineties.

Naro is a recent addition playing indian percussion and singing. More details about Naro to come..

Guest musicians depend on the gig and just who's around, including live percussion players, backing singers, flute and keyboards.
