3.31.2008. the overall idea/project was started
a san diego based community music project designed to support and feature up and coming local musicians & song-writers.
an ongoing process of assembling a "SAN DIEGO HOUSE BAND" type thing. INTIMATE & VIBEY ACOUSTIC BASED ROTATING ENSEMBLE for an underground pop project that will feature and support up and coming musicians & song-writers in san diego.
i am a guitar player whos real strength is in the area of recognizing, recruiting, organizing , and developing projects. ive played different roles in music projects. im not claiming any fame, but i am claiming substance in the form of song-writing, collaboration, solo performances, collaborative performances, lead guitar, sound engineering, organization, performance design,.......
hypothetical ensemble:
piano (ideally, visualize a minature acoustic piano)
bass (ideally, visualize a minature stand up)
guitars (acoustics, electrics, banjo, mando,slide, pedal steel.....)
sonic instruments via pedals and gadgets and cpu's...
strings
im even getting into horns when used properly
percussion (bells, shakers, cocktail kit, hand drums,...)
hypothetical vibe of hypothetical ensemble:
acousticky, earthy, indie, r&b/soul-rocky, alternative, folky, jazzy, cirqee, experimental & timeless vibe prefered. lots of stripped down type gigs, sets, and moments.
im open to possibilities and different kinds of instrumentation/performance. i myself prefer the more intimate type.

i just moved to san diego and plan to stay. this is the begining of a life-long project.
THE END GOAL, ASIDE FROM ENJOYING THE RIDE, IS TO HELP CULTIVATE AND SUPPORT LOCAL MUSICIANS & SONG WRITERS WE APPRECIATE.
you dont have to be pro. you just have to have integrity, good taste, and SOCIAL GRACES.
im easy going but very driven at the same time. i'm big on QUALITY CONTROL. i try to utilize peoples strenghts and give gentle cues, but I'M BIG ON QUALITY CONTROL. ive been a part of some very nice homegrown projects. i look forward to a special musical community that can do some real damage around town.

HOMEGROWNS: if you can appreciate these homegrowns then that's a sign this project may be for you,.....: aaron bowen, derrick oshana, geoff ereth , rocco deluca, ed harcourt, jay buchanan, reeve carney, andrew bird...
WELL KNOWNS: coltrane, ok computer, rufus wainwright's first 2 records, ray ray lamontagne's first record "trouble", the essence of led zep (i dont like everything they did, but probably my favorite band if i had to pick just one), van morrison's 1st solo record "astral weeks", allman bros band (ala dwayne era), racheal yamagata is interesting, cat power's song "the greatest", the miseducation of lauryn hill, bright eyes, damien rice's 1st record "O", the essence of jeff buckley although im only crazy about a handfull of his songs, marley, dylan, the black crowes (ala marc ford era), U2 has some excellent songs, "the sound of music" movie/soundtrack, a few citizen cope songs, curtis mayfield "live at the bitter end", purple rain, blood sugar sex magic, rage againt the machine's first and only record, .... to be continued ....not an all inclusive favorites list. just random and diverse ideas for points of reference.
this project is not intended to recreate anything. please note that what is described in this post should be recognized as the ultimate manifestation of the idea/project. although it is possible that it could manifest very quickly, realistically it will start small and i like the idea of it evolving over time. i hope to immediately get involved in developing projects.
