Balazs Neumann was born in 1979 in Gödöllő.
In 1996 he started his jazz piano studies with the help of Péter Erdélyi, then in 1997 he was admitted to the Jazz Piano Faculty of the Teachers’ Training Institute of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest.
At the Jazz Faculty János Gonda and Károly Binder were his masters.
He received his jazz piano artist, teacher diploma in 2001.
During his university years he had been teaching jazz piano, practical orchestra studies and jazz theory in the Frédéric Chopin Music School. In 1998 he played together with the Symphony Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio and Television and well-known Hungarian musicians at a concert organized in the Lions’ Court of the Palace of Buda.
In 1999 he gave a solo piano concert under the title „Jazz-Inspiration†in the Theater of the Sándor Petőfi Cultural Center of Gödöllő, in 2001 another solo concert titled „Jazz-Inspiration Part II†at the Podium of the Grassalkovich Royal Palace of Gödöllő.
On 6 November 2005 he gave a solo improvisatory piano concert in the Sándor Petőfi Cultural Center of Gödöllő, where Kornél Fekete-Kovács, Szabolcs Oláh and Dániel Mester were his guests.
In 2008 he gave a solo piano concert in Luxembourg.
He was the member of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Just In Time.
He played in several dramatic performances. In 2004 he orchestrated the musical of Daniel Labonne titled “Laval†in London.
In 2003 he was on tour with David Coburn, in 2004-2005 with Karl Frierson, the frontman of De Phazz, and with Tino Gonzales.
In 2004 he made a record with David Coburn and Wolfgang Terne, in March 2005 with Tino Gonzales.
In 2005 as a member of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra he performed with Bob Mintzer and Matus Jakabcic.
In 2006 his piece titled Workshop 5 was the winner of the best composition category at the Third Jazz Composer and Orchestrator Competition.
Primarily he plays as a pianist in orchestras, bands and he deals with composition and orchestration.
Balázs Neumann Quartet was created in 2004 as a trio under the direction of him. Its music was characterized by groove with acoustic sounding, dominated by the double bass- piano rhythm section, and this sounding was perfected by the play of András Mohay drummer, when he joined the band in 2006.
Above all they play own compositions, dominated by sensitivity and dynamism, and their exciting adaptations spice their performance.
The Balázs Neumann Quartet made its first record titled emerging frequencies in April 2007.
