During the last year or so we have seen how the UK artists have started producing their own mixtapes as a vital marketing tool, just look at the success of Sway. The USA has a highly developed mixtape market with DJs selling 10,000 copies of their mixtapes on a monthly basis and this is what is needed in the UK.
