My name is Jonnie Common
What I've got going on just now:
Down the Tiny Steps
- I used to write songs under the name Down the Tiny Steps
- through this, I became part of the wonderful Fence Collective
- In Jan 2009, the current line-up agreed that we wanted different things and that it made no sense to continue as we were.
- So, even though I started as DTTS myself and could continue under that moniker, for several reasons, I felt it best to start using my own name.
Inspector Tapehead
- Chris recruited me as a full-time member in late 2007.
- The debut album is coming out on Song By Toad 16.08.2010.
- I am currently saving up for an octopus to help me play the stuff live.
Panda Su
- I'll be playing some synth & banjo for my very talented friend Panda Su at a few festivals this summer. Witness the Eucalyptus. Hang on. That's Koalas eh?
Remixing
- James Yorkston has included a remix I did of his song 'Tortoise Regrets Hare' in the ltd edition boxset of his new album When The Haar Rolls In (Domino). I am chuffed to bits.
- FOUND included my remix of 'Alsation Gull Scene' on their SXSW fundraiser album 'Snairebrained'.
- I've remixed a Reporter track that will be included in the bonus material for his Seasonal Rhythms EP, to be release by Sounds Asleep soon.
Producing / Collaborating
- I've been sweet talking artists into letting me produce a track of theirs for a full-length release I'm planning for this summer.
- The format is: they come round, lay down their song in a basic arrangement and leave full of cake. I work on the track over the next however long, adding bits, eating cake, and then send them edits for review. Then, all being well, we have a bit of cake.
- Details coming very soon.
If you're interested in any of the above, drop me a message. Be it general interest OR looking to collaborate musically / visually.
Hoots!
