How We Became a Band
We formed in November of 2007.
It all started when I was trying to do decline bench at the Slippery Rock University's ARC. When I came up for air after a set a fellow student looked at my shirt which read Kiss me. I'm in a band. He asked, "Are you really in a band? Not that I want to kiss you."
We got to talking and I found out this guy, Gene, plays bass and has a guitarist he jams with, but unfortunately Gene and his friend cannot find a drummer. I told him about the band I was in at the time (Breaking the Rumor) and about my drummer friend, Mike Morelli (also in Breaking the Rumor), and Gene invited us to jam.
Well... Mike bailed on the first jam session, but I arrived with my trombone. I came to find this pair (Gene and Chris) were also looking for a vocalist. Since Breaking the Rumor was not signed, I decided to give these guys a try and convinced Mike to come to the next jam session.
We never did jam. Instantly the "jam session" became a practice and we pieced together two songs (Words the Rhyme with Guy and Kiddies - This One's for the Kitties).
The group formally formed under the name Another Word for Desperate..., which is the title of a Straylight Run song. We became a song writing furnace piecing together song after song, while only playing once a week.
After having painfully confusing conversations with people about the band and constantly hearing "Well, what word?" We decided we needed to change our name before we played our first show.
I was working at Dunkin' Donuts (on Wilmington Rd.) at the time and my manager was talking about another employee one night. She exclaimed, "You should have seen her! She was fit to be tied!" Instantly I knew what to name the band. After Chris, Gene, and Mike agreed. We played our first show as "FittobeTied" February 16, 2008 at Old Princeton School for Lawst Productions.
