About Me

Synopsis For The First Edition Of The Comic Book Series “The Reluctant Ghost Hunter” ©Copyright of story Glenn James“The Reluctant Ghost Hunter” is © copyright of Judyth PiazzaGraphically the story opens with a brief telling of the Bell Witch Hauntings, concentrating on the more sensational aspects: This is not only to make it more exciting for the reader, but as transpires when it reaches its most dramatic point, the story is being recounted in brief to Judyth by the Editor of her newspaper, The Metro Daily Gazette. He is thoroughly enthusiastic about the subject, and wants her to go and report on the hauntings. Judyth is far from keen as she has just filed a report into a local embezzlement case over local government welfare funds, and wants to peruse this much more important story. She feels she is being fobbed off with something completely irrelevant, in an office where there is a culture of a male mafia covering the “real” news and socially relevant stories. The Editor, trying to be soothing and coming over as completely patronising, tells her “Not to worry your head” about it; That story has to go to someone higher up due to seniority, and if she makes a success of the Bell Witch, she will be considered for more serious stories. “Reputations have to be earned, you know…” Judyth has the self control not to throw her coffee mug until the door until has closed behind him. Outside the editor chuckles to a colleague, and says he has given her a Ghost Story, as “She must be getting a bit fed up with cat shows…”Judyth stands in the office in silence, hands palm down on the desk either side of her computer screen, and staring into space. She has reached a crossroads. This is the fifth big story she has uncovered in the last year, which has been taken away editorially, and she has patiently covered mind-numbingly boring public-interest Stories all year. She has had enough. If she has got to cover a ghost story she is going to do such a damn good job of it that it will guarantee front-page headlines and a ticket out of this intolerable situation. She doesn’t believe in ghosts as such, but is determined to get the facts as completely as possible.Getting together Rich the Camera Man, and Leon the Sound Technician, both old friends and a sympathetic ear, Judyth asks them to come and cover the story with her, as she is planning a full length report in print, on the internet, and television. The farm is not easy to find, and they have to ask directions at local shops, one of which we see is a place which sells Crystals and magic stones. There has been talk of hauntings beginning again at the Bell’s Farm in recent times, and the caretaker who meets them to give them the key is not enthusiastic about them going inside. She is dead against it, in fact, and steadfastly refuses to accompany them. The party enter, but rather than leaving them to it as she states she will, the...
