About Me

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Such is the case with music in today’s overly saturated market filled with sophomoric street anthems and trivial lyrics laced across computer-generated compositions. Every so often, an artist, group, or producer is able to cut through the densely thick bullshit and offer relevancy to the airwaves. Thus, Blackout Movement presents their latest project: Solar Mesh.
The six-man band created in February of 2008, started as little more than perfect strangers getting together for one purpose: making great music. History, experience, and association link the prolific cast of musicians who are as diverse as the musical influences that fuel their sound. Solar Mesh marries the melodically soulful tradition of R&B with the hard-hitting, guitar-led spirit of Rock. Toss in lyrically driven content reminiscent of the originating days of Hip-Hop, and fit it together with a touch of Blues, Reggae, and Emo and the end-result is something truly revolutionary.
In late 2006, Blackout Movement producers Danny “Styles” Schofield and Winston “Blackout” Thomas created an all-Black Rock group, Purple Popcorn, which hurled the BM produced rap single “This Is Why I’m Hot” into commercial success with its rocked out remix. Within months, the group had amassed four television appearances, two commercial placements, and a number-one selling ringtone. Purple Popcorn appealed to a diverse, and unexpected fan base, but the duo weren’t satisfied with the heavy-hitting sound being their only creative outlet. They got back in the studio with a new group of faces, a fresh vocalist, and a renewed desire to make relatable music that fans could feel and the industry could undeniably respect.
So what do you get when you bring together an Emo-esque R&B singer, an internationally successful guitarist/producer, a hardcore Indie bass player, a Nirvana-loving “hip-hop” producer, and a deejay? You get a sound that transcends genre lines and brings back the rawness that once fueled the music scene. You get six different life experiences and professional tracks fused into a truly eclectic sound that will appeal to rock and hip-hop fans alike. Music needs it. Fans are ready. Solar Mesh has got it.
