About Me

As for how things are progressing for BLUE IYED SOUL. The first demo recordings are up. After all this time it feels great to have 6 songs in the player, of original material written by me as well as a great song writer Bill Lauderbach. Thankfully I have a great group of people around me and a great teacher in Rickey Godfrey helping me stay clear of the mistakes I could easily make. Not to mention that he is a great musician, who does all the music tracks and is an exceptional person and great friend. So while the time line I had in mind when I started chasing my life long dream is in the short term much slower than I had hoped. The music in the long run will benifit greatly from starting slow and going one step at a time. I hope you will come back often to hear new songs as they go up.I can't really say how to decribe the different styles of music that will eventually be recorded. The goal is to have everything from pure Soul to Southern Rock and even some Carolina Beach Music. Please feel free to comment on any song or songs. Good, Bad, or Ugly. We hope you like everything and will stop by often to hear new material and new styles that will be showing up in the future. Also please take the time to check out the MYSPACE music pages for Rickey Godfrey, Bill Lauderbach, and Kenneth Wright and the Hostile Witnesses. All have great music and all are great at what they do. They have all been a huge help to me getting this far and going forward in the future.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it, but once recording gets going WWW.?
Band Members: We'll let you know when things are all in place.
Influences: I guess the first music I heard was like most people in church, I grew up going every weekend to watch The Northern Border Bluegrass band, My dad plays bass with them. So I got more than a just a small exposure to Bluegrass. As i grew older I got more into soul. That led me to Delbert McClinton, Otis Redding, Booker T and the MG’S, Tyrone Davis. Then I 1st heard New Grass Revival, John Cowan, and knew Tony Rice's music from childhood. Then AKUS, showed the world bluegrass was not just noise. My teens were when Hank Jr., George Jones & George Strait, were either at the top or climbing that way. Can't forget Lynard Skynard, Terri Clark and Alan Jackson. Then came Carolina beach music Craig Woolard, Jackie Gore and John Barker of the The Embers, , and groups you should check out Kenneth Wright & The Hostile Witneses as well as Rickey Godfrey and The Legends of Beach.
Sounds Like: Josh Turner, mixed with Otis Redding, and all of my other influences.

I first heard this song in about 1980 at age 14. It was performed by The Newgrass Revival. It is not very flashy as far as songs go and doesn't have a lot of lyrics but it stuck in my head. I nearly w...
