Who I Am...
I'm an illustrator, a writer, a cartoonist, and an amateur sound maker (under a range of aliases).
Born in Guildford, England, I spent much of my early childhood in Scotland. In 1971 I moved with my family to the United States. Since 1994, I've lived and worked in Seattle, Washington.
What I Do, Where To Find It...
For regular updates on what's happening in my creative life, and links to a great variety of past, present and works-in-progress, visit my blog at Comic, J.W.E. Currently posted is “By Crom! I've Been Scamped!", a humorous true tale of childhood comic book profiteering from 1976.

Currently at Picture, J.W.E. – NEW! Posted 9/18/08, A Scholarly Jumble, an amusingly pompous overview of nine of my brand-new Cartoon Jumble paintings, by highfalutin art critic, Andrew Land. PLUS, posted 9/2/08,The Many Faces of Jackass,
which commemorates the passing of just over a decade since the initial installment of my twentieth century cartoon strip, Jackass, appeared in Seattle's The Stranger, I've dug through the memory box and have assembled a flowing litany of images and thoughts upon this oddly mercurial little creation; a blessing to some, an itch to others. I hope you enjoy the festivities!
Currently at Book, J.W.E. – NEW! Posted 8/4/08. Black Weather, Scroll Nine (the conclusion to my graphic story portraying an ominously weathered future), plus Chapter Nine of Not Far From the Nest, my ongoing internet novel.
NEW! Posted 9/18/08 at Story, J.W.E. – The Big Lonely, Part Two, the tale of a man trying to escape from himself, in a paradise he designed as a boy, sitting before a crackling black and white television.
Currently at Early, J.W.E. – NEW! Posted 8/4/08. Big Suburban Fire Comics, a never-before-seen single-panel gag strip from the early 1980s!
My illustrations can be seen in dozens of newspapers and magazines, mostly in the U.S., but some abroad. Every week, I illustrate William Steven Humphrey's popular I Love Television column, which runs in Seattle's The Stranger and Portland, Oregon's The Mercury .
I have a diverse list of clients, including Walt Disney Productions, Sub Pop
Records, The Village Voice, Nickelodeon Magazine, McGraw-Hill Books, Philadelphia Daily News, The San Diego Reader, Macys/Bon Marche, Fantagraphics Books, CMJ NewMusic Monthly, The City of Seattle, SF Weekly, Miami New Times, The Olympic Regional Development Authority, The Alibi, Houston Press, The Jimi Hendrix Family,
and numerous others.
As a cartoonist, my work has appeared in more than a dozen comics and graphic novels, by publishers like
Fantagraphics Books , Drink Me Press, Chronicle Books, Black Eye Productions, and Kitchen Sink Press. Titles include A Sleepyhead Tale, The Island of Dr. Moral, A World of Trouble, and Jackass. My most recent published cartoon, Winchester Cathedral, can be found in Fantagraphic's anthology Mome . I also have a weekly editorial cartoon, A Drawn Perspective, which runs in six neighborhood papers in the Seattle area, including the Beacon Hill News , where you can also find articles I've written, such as a recent piece on legendary underground cartoonist Robert Crumb .
A large selection of my illustration work, including paintings, photos and other media, can be found at my website, JEREMYEATONART.COM .
A substantial selection of my original art, from both my illustration and comics work, can be found for sale at Comic Art Collective.
