BRUCE REISMAN

TIME WOUNDS ALL HEELS

About Me

Some personal words about my Novel writing: ---------------------------------------------------------Bru ce Reisman“My 83 year old father became an alcoholic after reading it,” recalls Bruce Reisman, when first describing his novel, The Absence of Quinn. After writing for television since the age of 13, where, in 1963, producer legend Irwin Allen was dumbfounded to find a kid showing up for the first meeting, Bruce finally sat down to write a book. “I’d been wanting to write a novel all my life, but I was intimidated by both the size and honesty required to take on such a task.”Bruce infused much of his own life in the secondary character of Danny Pearce, a modestly successful Hollywood scriptwriter, but he combined many of the people he’d met along the way in the character of Justice Payne, a Candide-like young man who literally searches the world for both himself and his birth father, Bobby Quinn. The author was one of those skinny, short Jewish kids who pretty much stayed in his room, creating a world of his own invention. When he did venture out, he first chose acting as a way of expressing his innermost feelings, but realized, after watching his dailies from The Waltons, that he had no innermost feelings; at least none to share on screen. So, he devoted his life to television and stage. But it is in his writing of The Absence of Quinn where the sometimes shy, sometimes cocky author found his muse, who turned out to be himself.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

You'd think that at the aqe of 56, one would have seen a lot and met a lot of people, enough events and characters to fill a life. But I've always believed that we're all "just beginning", re-inventing ourselves, and therefore, open to inventing as well. Who I'd like to meet? Well, people with real passion and artistry. My greatest fear in hooking with someone is to find them boring, or for them to find me boring.I'll tell you what kind of people I don't want to hang with: people I see right through, and I have been exposed to several in the last year or so. They know who they are, and they stay clear of me because they know I know what they're up to.
