As a young child, I have memories of my family and me walking across the park in the evenings to visit my relatives. They were the brother and sister of my parents, in other words, two sisters married two brothers. They also had two girls and one boy (the same as my parents), which made them my "double first cousins". I was very close to my aunt and had many of her characteristics and shared many of her passions. One of them was the art of cooking. I've carried this desire through out life. My mother was more into interior design, which I acquired a flare for also.I won a scholarship to study dress design and fashion after high school, but had a change of heart. I was not ready to leave my family and move so far to New York City. In stead, I went to the University close to my home city and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and began work on a Masters in Remedial Reading and School Supervision. I then began my life's career as an elementary teacher! Because of this change in my career choice, I met my husband through the husband of a co-worker. This union has given me two beautiful and wonderful daughters and one beloved grandson that is an extension of his grandfather.Immediately I knew teaching was not for me. I then tried the music industry, and became tape librarian for Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee for two years. This was new for me, the atmosphere was very casual, exciting and yet intense. The music was very alive, you see my office was next to one of the recording studios where so much creativity flowed. My husband lauched his caree in the music industry at Stax Records during the same time I worked there. He received an offer from a major record company and accepted it. With this job acception, we relocate to another city. I left my job and didn't have any prospects of another one when we moved. My husband encourage me to stay home to take care of our family and be there for the girls.
...And I did.Now that my daughters are grown, everyone's career is set; I can now do what my heart tells me to. My heart's desire is the arts, design and the science of cooking. I've found it again in the design and baking of cakes! Couple with the old home recipes of my aunt and twist of my own signature flavors, I've found my passion and carved a nitch for myself in my new area of Sugar Land and Houston. You see, I design and bake custom cakes now!
