The Harringtons

About Me

The Harringtons are a Northern Casual Indie Rock & Roll Band starting out from Barnsley who formed at the beginning of February 2008. We've been gigging in and around Yorkshire now for about 6 months flat and have gatherd alot of fans and interest along the way. Lots of things will be happening soon so keep checking up on us to see what happens! Thanks for taking your time in checking us out, it means a lot.
The Harringtons.
The Harringtons look set to ruffle some feathers and it’s only their third gig. The turnout was one of the best I have witness for a local band and let’s only hope this fan base remains loyal – if The Harringtons keep spilling out the tunes as they are, it can only be good times ahead. Although they can be seen as following trends of that of The Pigeon Detectives and Arctic Monkeys, it can’t be such a bad thing – they are showing individual personalities and confidence that isn’t arrogance. Just a little tweak with tightness and we’ve got a riot. -

Headlining the event are local lads The Harringtons, who have been causing a stir, packing out local venues with their first string of gigs. -

Headliners, ‘The Harringtons’ created a frenzied finish, and the crowd were just soaking everything up. These local guys have delivered the goods time and time again. Admiration for the organisers, who had the balls to put their faith in a local band to headline this year’s event!

The tracks all follow an energetic pace leaving no room for sentiment. The lyrics are direct and delivered clearly by a competent frontman. All and sundry know the role they have and fulfil it effectively if not professionally. 'City Nights' is an obvious favourite amongst fans. It's a strong catchy song that ironically captures the typical nightlife experience of young adults all over the UK. The Harringtons aren't a band for whining about the woes of shitty relationships and hard times, instead they turn it on its head to basically outline shit happens, time to move on and lets make a joke of it. It's exciting times for this band and if you haven't checked The Harringtons out, we suggest you do!

In the space of a couple of months The Harringtons had gone from putting an ad out on 'Myspace' for musicians to headlining a local music event in Barnsley. But, love 'em or hate 'em, this is The Harringtons' velocity of life fuelled by energy and charisma. Its obvious that The Harringtons are Yorkshire boys at heart and know there's a lot of hard work ahead of them, the casual indie rock and roll style mixed with a passion for having a fucking good time makes them all the more appealing.

The Harringtons entered the stage to an ecstatic welcome from the now full auditorium. They thanked the Century Kids for letting them support, then their energy soon kicked in with their determined attitude. The best track of the whole evening was the dancey 'All These Things That Lovers do' – which for a moment reminded me of Little Man Tate, but then turned into their own Harringtons style tune with trademark ringing guitars and confident vocals. Their set continued to impress the crowd, so much so the front of the stage became a 'moshing mess' of bodies, which became more frenzied when 'City Nights' was played. Unfortunately their set seemed to be prematurely cut short, much to the annoyance of the fans who chanted “more, more” hoping that would entice them to play longer...

Northern indie-rock-n-roll at its best! This bunch of swaggering personalities are sure to set stages alight, so just remember where you saw them first.
