Digital music is the future: with sales of downloaded music and mp3 players skyrocketing and more people discovering new music by utilizing the internet, Universal Indie is poised to take advantage of the latest on-line and mobile communications technologies.
Our primary marketing channel is through the Internet and we execute a comprehensive on-line marketing and promotional campaign, including but not limited sales through 3rd party vendors, street teams, viral marketing, web based videos, online reviews and features.
Unlike other “e-labels” Universal Indie treats it’s digital release in the same way that we would a release on cd. All of our releases are mastered and provided with hi-resolution album art.
Universal Indie Artists Universal Indie’ artists: retain ownership of their masters and copyrights and receive 50% of all sales of releases not provided as free downloads.
Music Distribution In this new and exciting age Universal Indie will be experimenting with other music distribution models such as “pay what you think it’s worth” and “advertiser supported” methods .
Universal Indie Releases We don’t add any DRM (Digital Rights Management) to the audio files sold through our site. All files are sold as open ended mp3s which can be burned to cd or transfered to almost any digital audio player without hassle.

Cartel - Tha Throwback

On this solid follow-up to "Prepare For Glory", underground hip hop producer Cartel continues the onslaught with "Tha Throwback". Named "Tha Throwback" because it represents a throwback to when hip hop artists actually cared about lyrical content. It's comprised of some of the most promising, upcoming MC’s in the game and features improved production from Cartel.

Scholarly Pursuits - The Schmagilla Incident

Global Awareness Entertainment and Universal Indie Records have teamed up to bring you the The Schmagilla Incident, the debut album by Scholarly Pursuits.

This first studio album represents a combination of strong passion and artistic creativity. The Schmagilla Incident is at it's most powerful when experienced as a single audio experience, taking the listener on a enlightening sonic journey. It is an original project pairing poetic lyricism with bass-filled, emotion-driven beats. The Freshman release by Scholarly Pursuits shows why they are at the top of their class.

Cartel - The Lost Tracks

As a way of saying thanks for supporting his first album, "Prepare For Glory", underground hip hop producer, Cartel has cooked up a special treat with this exclusive album of tracks that he produced and recorded between the years of 1990 and 1997. The song, "Nobody Plays Hard In The Graveyard" features the first appearance of Murder Inc's Cadillac Tah.

Note: This is not an official album and so it hasn't been mastered. Some songs were taken off old cassettes so the sound quality varies. But that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the tracks featured below.

Cartel - Prepare For Glory

Underground producer Cartel, one half of the Hoodgrown Productions duo, makes his debut with a throwback album of sorts. Combing hard beats provided by him and "real" lyrics from some of illest new upcoming artists on the scene, Cartel's Prepare For Glory represents a time when hip hop was still about "beats & rhymes". This album features one of the last songs ("Certified Hoodstars"), recorded with Stack Bundles before his untimely death.
