Joze Marcelino

Joze Marcelino studied singing, piano, clarinet and music theory at the Conservatory of Ponta Delgada. He also frequented classical guitar lessons and several Jazz workshops.  While a university student in Porto (Portugal) was a member of several garage bands and played at the famous Portuguese traditional university festivities (Queima das Fitas) at Rivoli theatre. Marcelino has a degree in Biological Sciences, a Masters degree in Food Science and Technology. He was a finalist at the new talents TV show ("Novas Ondas") for which he recorded a video clip broadcast by the Portuguese National TV station (RTP) and was twice invited by this TV channel to participate in its charity Christmas program at hospitals.In 2006 he wrote the song "Viagens", which was in the final phase of the contest on the Portuguese Radio and Television in Toronto, Canada.   Favourite musicians: Djavan, Bob Marley, Madredeus, Pink Floyd, Sara Tavares, Cassandra Wilson, Barbra Streisand, Tracy Chapman, Neil Young, Miriam Makeba, Joshua Groban, Jack Jonhonson, José Feliciano.The CD "Folhas de um só ramo" (leaves of one branch) was recorded in Canada and Portugal and mixed in the Global Point Music studio and will be available in Itunes in May 23rd. The 12 songs  included in this album reflect Marcelino's background of musical diversity, which spans from the Kizomba African hot rhythms to western influences of Pop and hip hop and Jazz music.
