Jay Marriott's solo opportunities came quickly and unexpectedly. No sooner had he been informed that his previous band (The Novocaines) was going on hiatus, that he was offered his first solo gig. Having never perfomed on his own (let alone written songs for a solo slot) it was a very busy couple of weeks, writing an hour of material in the two weeks leading up to his debut.
Since then Jay's reputation about the music scene has flourished, giving his audience the feel of the New York folk scene in the early sixties with his catchy tunes and lyrics that everyone can seemingly relate to (think Paul Kelly meets Crowded House).
While keeping the hard work ethic developed during the time spent with The Novocaines, and including that with the rapid rate that his song writing is developing, Jay Marriott will definately be an artist worth keeping an eye on...
