Jill Shalvis lives with Alpha Man, three daughters, two dogs, 1 cat, 2 hamsters, a lot of big spiders, garbage rummaging bears, Cheeto stealing geese and various other members of nature, high in the Sierras where it snows year round. Or so it seems to. She began her career as Jill Sheldon with the publication of her first book, Summer of Fire, in 1996. She has published 68 more since then, with four more coming out this year. She’s a three-time RITA finalist, a RT winner for Best Temptation 2004 for Seduce Me and the mass market reissue of The Night Before Christmas made the USA Today Bestseller List. Add to that, she’s a three time National Reader's Choice Award winner, the latest in 2006 with Seeing Red. While not being chased by coyotes, Jill can usually be found in her bunny slippers eating a box of cookies. What did you expect, bon bons and cabana boys? She loves to hear from her readers, so come on by her daily blog at the link above. BTW, her blog was nominated for best humor blog by the Blogger’s Choice Awards.
What others are saying:
"Shalvis manages to portray these extraordinary developments with a wry, Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer-esque good humor that doesn't get stuck on the question of believability. The very oddness of the tale is a major part of its charm. If you're looking for a vacation from the too-familiar workaday world of the average chick lit novel -- how many red wine swilling publicity assistants can you really stand to read about in a month, anyway? -- Jill Shalvis' Out of This World might be just the right jolt of alternate reality."
-Debra Pickett, Chicago Sun-Times Columnist

- A Romance Reader
"Jill Shalvis writes exciting and thrilling suspense-filled romance. Hooked from page one."
- Romance Reviews Today
"Ms. Shalvis characters leap off the page"
- Romantic Times
"A deliciously sensual writer, full of compassion, humor and a deep, deep love of romance."
- Writers Unlimited
"Jill Shalvis has the incredible talent of creating characters who are intelligent, quick-witted, and gorgeously sexy, all the while giving them just the right amount of weakness to keep them from being unrealistically perfect."
- RomanceJunkies.com
"I’m learning many things on my writing journey and one of the things that I learned from reading this book is that even good authors evolve. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t read Smart and Sexy. Jill Shalvis has always been an excellent writer, each subsequent book published on a par with their predecessors. But this time she has outdone anything she’s ever written before. When I finished this book something happened that caught me by surprise; I was wordless. I couldn’t fit my mind around anything that could come close to describing how this book made me feel. Yes, it made me feel. Smart and Sexy is a riveting read full of humor, romance and thrills. This book is everything that I want in a romance and more; great plot, wonderful characters, and a to-die-for hero."

A FEW WORDS FROM JILL:
"Why do I write? Is it because I don’t want to fling hambers? Or ask if you’d rather have red or green sauce with that burrito? Is it because I am tired of doing accounting and am too lazy to find another job? Maybe. But the truth is, I just love love love making up stories. Always have. There’s just something incredibly wonderful and exciting about having a daydream, and then being able to put it to paper. I’ve had many jobs; scooping poop for a pet clinic, putting wires on teeth for an orthodontist, filing for an ambulance service . . . and many more odd things I did to put food on the table. But none have given me the satisfaction and fun and excitement that writing has. I get to wake up, slip into my bunny slippers and MAKE STUFF UP for a living. Can’t think of anything better than that, I really can’t."
