About Me

I get my Free MySpace Layouts at LayoutStreet.comSupa Reem aka Reeminatty has been around music from the tender age of one. Raised in Laurelton, Queens, his father and uncle owned their own sound system, he grew up hearing the bass lines of artist such as Burning Spear, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Daddy U-Roy, Charlie Chaplin, Briggadere Jerry and other reggae legends. Taking anual visits with his father to St.Andrews in Kingston, Jamaica as a youth, filled in his understanding of the history of jamaica and reggae music that he wouldn't have gained by just staying in New York. This knowledge expanded his thoughts of Jamaica as a country and of reggae and music that he would try to share with his friends, but would be laughed at because the jamaican culture wasnt fully adapted and understood in New York at the time. With a few missed trips to Jamaica and his knowledge of reggae and the Jamaican culture not being understood by his peers, his love for reggae did a 360 degree turn into what everyone else in New York was listening to, hip hop. Supa Reem fell in love with the hip hop style and the music, being from New York he understood what lyrical content stood for. From EPMD, Red Man, BBD, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Nas to Wu-Tang and so on, he knew and listend to it all. He was dubbed the name Reeminatty in high school for always having the latest Clueminatti aka DJ Clue mixtape before it even hits the streets. After a few missed trips, Supa Reem finally made his way back to Jamaica, and felt hurt as he missed Jamaica so much and how he let peer pressure forget where his heart and his heritage is. Supa Reem came back to New York saying to his self that he is going to remember where he is from and remember where he is at by embracing his love for reggae just as much as he does the hip hop, no matter who says what. The following year dancehall had one of it best years with new riddims like showtime, bruk out, joy ride and so on made Supa Reem knowledge of his culture easier to understand by his peers, for they were willing to learn what the hell was really being said in those songs they were dancing to. Reem was the person to holla at to know the next party, the newest riddim, which artist said what about who...but he didnt know a way to benefit off this knowledge. So in 1999 Supa Reem got his 1st step into music by interning @ VP Records. As an intern he wanted to understand the aspect of promotions, but he was moved around so much he learned the business from the signing of the artist to the recording of the album to the promotion of the album down to the % per sales per record. He later went from intern to head of the labels 1st in house street team. He met artist, djs, producers, promoters while out every day and night promoting artist such as Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, Morgan Heritage, Jr.Kelly, albums such as: STB 25 & 26, Reggae and Soca Gold 2000 and many more. While out in the club everynight, Reem started to take a interest in the selecting, being a critic on which selectors did a good job, which selector could've played better or who he feels if he had the chance he would've done better. He decided to give himself that opportunity to show that he could play better than those who thought they were the one, Supa Reem, a childhood friend and co-worker from VP started King Black Int'l. Supa Reem left VP and started his own street team, Street Sweeperz Promotions and focused more time into King Black. King Black started making regular radio appearances on WLIU-CW Post radio and WUSB-Stony Brook radio and were opening for artist such as Elephant Man, Sizzla, Turbulence, Merciless and Major Mackrel. They were the 1st sound system to ever play in Princeton University and Supa Reem was the 1st selector to win a 45 clash broadcasted live on the radio and over the internet in 2001. They later on owned the number 1 show on JamaicaPromote.com, the Global Link Up show. With King Black moving a mile a minute, Supa Reem just had more ideas and more goals to accomplish everyday. So his goals wouldn't be a distraction, in 2004 Supa Reem went solo and let King Black develop into their own pace. Supa Reem spins and mc's for hisself as faster than the rest and quicker than the best, cuz of the S on his chest and by keeping the promise he made to himself the last time he came from Jamaica: "remember where he is from and remember where he is at by embracing his love for reggae just as much as he does the hip hop, no matter who says what". Since his departure with King Black, Supa Reem has spinned alongside Jazzy Joyce, Massive B, Sponge Bob, Stinga Mov't, King Agony, Stone Love, Cypha Sounds, King Agony, Afrique, Fire Links from Connecticut, to Buffalo to Miami, he was 1 out 50 djs selected to be on MTV's world longest relay mix inside Webster Hall and has released 5 mix cds, on his off time he is the C.E.O of Street Sweeperz and Company Inc. which includes Street Muzik Promotions, Team Supa Ent., Streetz Muzik Radio and The Team Supa Models. How does he do it all? Its da power of da S ya dig!
