About Me

Welcome to my MySpace page. I was born in Orange County, California in 1972 and spent most of my childhood moving back and forth between California, Arkansas, and North Carolina. My old man was career Marine and I had 2 hippie uncles who were very influential during my formative years. The result is I grew up a walking contradiction. I may be the only hardcore conservative, uptight hippie alive.I first started playing guitar when I was 16. My Uncle Randall taught me the chords to “Down on the Corner” and I played it until I thought the whole family would vomit. I tried using those chords to learn other songs but it never seemed to work. I finally came to the realization that there may be more than 3 of them. I bought song books and taught myself how to play.Folk and folk rock have been my musical styles of choice since I was 9 years old. I first heard Simon and Garfukel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water in 1981 and dove headlong into the genre when I was still in high school. Other people like Neil Young, CCR, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt band became strong influences. I finally found the Byrds in my first year of college and they have been my biggest influence since.I started writing songs when I was 17. The first efforts were not that good but I learned to write from deep enough that each song hurt. That’s where I try to pull my music from still. I have completed 1 CD, Laxatives and Lovesongs, and am working on the second now. No time has been specified for the completion of the new project but I hope it’s done soon. My fans and I are all growing a bit impatient. Unfortunately I’ve run into several snags. What songs I do have completed, with the exception of the female vocals, are posted to my player. Currently there are still 2 songs from the old CD and 1 demo still up as well.I have already achieved some of my musical goals. People like what I do and have been positively impacted by what they hear. That, and the fact that I have been bootlegged, means more than sales figures. For those curious, the name Blind Mike is not for show. I have been legally blind since the day I was born. Ain’t that a hell of a birthday present? I hope you all enjoy your visit here and invite you to join me and the Handicapped Nation. For those who may be offended at my use of the word “blind”, get over it. If a person can’t laugh at themselves, there’s nothing left. Please feel free to comment on my songs. I don’t care if what you have to say is good or bad; I am interested and appreciate any and all feedback. My collaborations with Evil Demented Bunny can be found on the Purblind Rabbit page here on MySpace as well. Please check it out. Thank you for visiting and come back any time.IM.aspx?friendid=362168104"
