About Me

So I don't keep my profile the most updated thing in my life, but this is worth taking the time: Last night, one year after I returned from Australia, I proposed to Amanda and am incredibly pleased and honored that she accepted. This won't necessarily be a short engagement as we have enough keeping us busy right now that a wedding would just make it chaotic, but I'm proud to say I've found the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with!

My Interests

Aussie Rules Football (www.hamptonhammers.com, www.scafl.com), soccer, volleyball, sports in general. Hanging out, drinking with friends, watching movies and having fun in whatever form it comes in. Meeting new people, traveling, learning about new cultures and more about the ones I'm already familiar with. Someday I hope to say that I've truely traveled the world.

Music:

Punk, rock (classic and modern), swing, big band, classics, classical, techno, house, rap and hip hop. Little to no country and Weezer's about the only type of emo I like. Oh yeah, and aside from Aerosmith and GNR, 80s music could cease to exist and the world would be a much better place.

Movies:

Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Boondock Saints, Super Troopers, Top Gun, Behind Enemy Lines, Saving Private Ryan, the first half of Full Metal Jacket, Brother Bear, Ronin, The Waterboy, Tommy Boy...just about as eclectic a taste as music. I'm a fan of most modern Tom Hanks movies, but Big is cool too.

Books:

Green Mile, Hannibal, When All the World Was Young, Bahh Bahh Black Sheep

My Blog

Knee surgery, again, and hopefully for the last time

So, my femur didn't quite develop correctly, the blood vessels not extending all the way to the tip of the bone. This caused that area of the bone to essentially die; the medial meniscus over that par...

Aussie Rules explained

A basic explaination/tutorial for those to whom footy is just a bunch of guys running around is very short shorts and guys at the end of the field in white lab coats...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T...

Revo Tryout 1

This past Friday I took a half day and jumped on a plane to Texas, with expectations of playing footy with the best in the States amidst rain, winds, ice and whatever the storm beating up the center o...

Footy trip

All the lead up and stories had me a little skeptical if the trip could live up to the expectations. It did. Footy trip rules prevent me from getting into the crazier stories but it was definitely man...

Game 14/Round 16

As any bell curve goes, the top teams in the league were very competitive with a noticable gap between them and the bottom teams. Sadly, Hampton reserves was among the bottom teams this year but with ...

Game 13/Round 15

Playing against one of the tope sides in the competition, we got absolutely pumped. I think it might have even been a little worse than if we played our seniors, just for the fact that we know their s...

Game 12/Round 13

I came here to learn more about the game and experience all that is footy. Today was definitely a new experience. Given how far out of the way Lyndale is, it was nice that I didn't get rained on durin...

Game 11/Round 12

This was a game of some importance to me, this being the team that I was blind sided against and ended up coping a significant shoulder injury from. This was a team that I wanted to pay back. I starte...

Game 10/Round 11

Oakleigh Districts was another team that beat us convincingly in the beginning of the season as well as redefinied bogan. We were out to show that we had improved since the first game and did tha...

Aussie slang

From the linguistic perspective, Aussies follow almost no pattern in many cases of coloquial language, using any words as long as they rhyme. Example:When I get back I'll have a CaptainCook.meaning: W...
