It could be any one of 200+ nights a year that the invigorating pop-rock-hip-hop machine that is Kerry Knight plays up and down the east coast.
With enthusiastic drive and vision, Kerry and his band deliver what fans and critics alike agree is an enthusiastic wave of energy that infuses audiences with the intensity of a musical hurricane. Kerry Knight has evolved from a guitar slinger to an electrifying singer and songwriter, and the best front man any band could boast plugging in for.
Kerry's music and concerts are a heady mix of confident, funny and uplifting lyrics, strong melodies, tight arrangements and insane musicianship.
Playing before thousands of people and opening for such notables as:
Kid Rock, Clutch, Everclear, Powerman 5000, Sevendust, Everything, Fighting Gravity, Blue Oyster Cult, Lunachicks, Screwdriver, Static-X, Avail, and 2 Skinnee J's
This has provided Kerry a special rapport with many fans and developed his great sense of crowd-pleasing performances.
In addition to his virtuoso guitar playing, Kerry plays saxophone, keyboards, drums and bass. As showcased on his new CD 'Right Right,' his ability to incorporate hip hop, pop, metal, rap, punk, reggae, funk, acoustic ballads, salsa, jazz, blues, classical rock, and R&B into an entire album gives him a totally unique versatility in the world of music.
Music became a major part of Kerry's life at an early age. During high school, Kerry achieved many accomplishments through his music. At a tri-state competition at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, he won a gold medal for jazz improv, and his band won six consecutive times for the Star Search Talent Competition.
Kerry continued to hone his expertise in writing new music to earn his band popular acclaim. Additionally, he was specially selected to attend the Summer Institute of the Arts at Christopher Newport University where he gained superior training, experience, and critical technique in ear training for perfect pitch, composition, and music theory.
Kerry was the only competitor who wrote and played his own tablature and was therefore selected to play with both the Count Basie Orchestra and Ray Charles Orchestra at the Hampton University Jazz Festival. Six years of well-grounded studies in reading, writing, theory, and all styles of music helped him develop his own unique form and put him into a class apart from his peers. With the kinetic fusion of supreme musicianship and songwriting, Kerry Knight and his band are a well-oiled machine that delivers a knock-out performance punch.
Kerry Knight's command of lyrics, melody and arrangement and his charismatic live performances win over audiences of all ages.
