..Trutz "Viking" GrothAmbassador of Rock'n'Roll - Missionary of Country Music Trutz “Viking” Groth was born in Berlin, Germany. He was still very young when the first echoes of American Rock’n’ Roll music could be heard only on “A.F.N.”, the radio station for the Armed Forces in Europe. He was captured immediately by the rhythm that was completely different to anything ever heard before. Soon he started his own band, playing for the American Soldiers at Air-Bases all over Germany songs that became Rock’n’Roll classics by Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Larry Williams, But also Country & Western songs By Hank Williams, Johhny Cash, Lefty Frizzell. Buck Owens, and Stonewall Jackson, just to name a few. His first big success happened in Hamburg, Germany: his band “The Black Devils” won the first prize during a competition of 56 bands at the legendary “Star Club”. Klaus Voormann, later bass-player in John Lennon’s “Plastic Ono band” and Astrid Kirchherr, the mythical girl who invented the Beatles-Hairdo, were part of the Jury. That was the beginning of a life-long career. With the next band, “The Black Stars”, he was chosen by Tony Sheridan, the singer who recorded his first songs with the Beatles, to do a tour through Italy, he and “The Black Stars” decided to stay in Italy, where they had a few hits with their singles, after a while the band members got tired of touring and decided to call it a day. Trutz met “The Renegades”, a British group that had a massive success in Europe with their single “Cadillac”. Trutz joined the group and “Kim & The Cadillacs” were born. They recorded 10 bestselling albums with a lot of Rock’n’roll classics, but also self-penned material, and did countless TV-appearances and tours all over Italy and Europe. In the mean time Trutz worked also on his own in folks clubs and theatres in and around Milan, Italy, just with his acoustic guitar and his harmonica as a “One man band” with his vast repertoire of rock’n’roll and country songs. He has recently recorded a new “CD” with his old band “Kim & the cadillacs” and another one with the reborn “Renegades”, after several successful tours through Scandinavia. He is also busy preparing a new CD with some classic songs, and, of course, many new songs written by himself.TRUTZ "VIKING" GROTH è nato a Berlino. E' ancora giovanissimo quando arrivano in Europa i primi echi del ROCK 'N' ROLL che si ascolta soltanto alla radio Americana o nel JUKEBOX al bar, ed è subito catturato da questo ritmo. Prestissimo forma il suo primo complesso e comincia ad esibirsi in Germania nelle basi dei soldati Americani con brani che oggi sono diventati classici del ROCK' N' ROLL di EDDY COCHRAN, GENE VINCENT ELVIS PRESLEY, FATS DOMINO, LITTLE RICHARD, BUDDY HOLLY,CHUCK BERRY, JERRY LEE LEWIS, CARL PERKINS, LARRY WILLIAMS, ma anche canzoni COUNTRY di HANK WILLIAMS e JOHNNY CASH, ed è subito successo. Infatti il primo riconoscimento viene proprio dal "TEMPIO" della musica di AMBURGO: il mitico STAR CLUB indice un concorso per gruppi rock, e TRUTZ con la sua particolarissima voce vince il primo premio. Nella giuria c'è anche KLAUSS VOORMANN, il mitico bassista della "PLASTIC ONO BAND" di JOHN LENNON. Questo segna l'inizio di una lunghissima carriera. Tra i vari incontri ecco TONY SHERIDAN, il cantante che incise i primi dischi con i BEATLES, allora ambitissimo tra i giovani cantanti in cerca di fortuna, che lo porta con se in italia per una serie di concerti con i "BLACK STARS". Sono gli anni fortunatissimi del PIPER, i favolosi anni '60 tanta musica e tante occasioni fino all'incontro con KIM BROWN e la sua band "THE RENEGADES". TRUTZ entra nel gruppo e nascono i "KIM & THE CADILLACS" : 10 LONG-PLAYING di successo e tantissime apparizioni televisive e concerti su e giù per l'ITALIA e per l'EUROPA. Finalmente TRUTZ decide di fermarsi a BRERA, nel cuore creativo di Milano, dove si esibisce negli affolati localini, fumosi e affascinanti. ONE MAN BAND, come ama definirsi, perchè TRUTZ anche da solo riesce a trasmettere la carica di una band. La sua voce, la sua chitarra e la sua armonica è tutto ciò che gli occorre per riempire di suoni e di nostalgia l'atmosfera, per farci sognare col ritmo dell'intramontabile ROCK 'N' ROLL i favolosi anni '60. Ma non è tutto: c'è anche il COUNTRY americano, DEL QUALE trutz è un vero appassionato e sincero interprete! Infatti ha saputo cogliere lo spirito del COWBOY solitario e a trasportarlo nelle sconfinate praterie metropolitane, dove la folla e la frenesia ci distraggono anche da noi stessi. Le dolci melodie del COUNTRY allora ci regalano qualche attimo di calma e di ricordi, forse non nostri, ma che con l'immaginazione e la magia della voce di TRUTZ diventano reali, giusto quel tantino per farci dire che, nonostante tutto, per fortuna c'è ancora la musica! Recentemente ha inciso un nuovo CD con la sua vecchia BAND "KIM & THE CADILLACS" ed un altro con i risuscitati "RENEGADES", con i quali si è esibito anche in diverse tournèe di grande successo in FINLANDIA. In questi giorni sta preparando un CD come solista che contiene brani classici e, naturalmente, canzoni inedite scritte da TRUTZ
