Bleu Voodoo

Feel the vibe... the mojo... known as Bleu Voodoo!

About Me

Currently there was speculation that Bleu Voodoo had vanished into thin air, but in the mist of the west Florida swamps a bleu neon beacon still shines. The distant thumping drumbeat and moaning guitars gain in intensity because the vibe gets in the bloodstream that flows through the veins of eternity. All things change with the passage of time yet Bleu Voodoo is a mystical energy that will exist within time without end.Few bands in the history of rock & roll are riddled with as many contradictions as Bleu Voodoo. All three members have wildly different personalities, as their notoriously intense live performances demonstrate. The group is a whirlwind of activity, as the wild Biker Bob flails on his drum kit and vocalist Eric Bleu wails into his mic before busting out an innovative lead on his soulful axe. Bassist Dirty Henry stands strong pounding out solid rhythms, functioning as the eye of the hurricane. He adds the poignant backing vocals that fill the mystical vibe called Bleu Voodoo. These divergent personalities frequently clash, but these frictions also resulted in a decade's worth of remarkable music.Although they weren't as boldly innovative as the Beatles or as popular as the Rolling Stones or the Who, Bleu Voodoo is one of the most influential bands of the recent memory. Like most bands of their era, Bleu Voodoo began as an R&B/Blues outfit. Within four years, the band had become the most staunchly eclectic of all their contemporaries, drawing heavily from Southern Rock and traditional pop, as well as incorporating elements of country, folk, and especially blues.By the time Bleu Voodoo began calling themselves the Florida's Hottest Band in the late '90s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy hiphop beat of the gangstas in the rap revolution of the '90's, Bleu Voodoo had pioneered the gritty, hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that came to define core of their brand of music. After a brief dalliance with psychedelia, Bleu Voodoo re-emerged in 2003 as a jaded, blues-soaked rock solid trio. Bleu Voodoo always flirted with the seedy side of rock & roll, but as the hippie dream began to break apart, they exposed and reveled in the new rock culture. It wasn't without difficulty, of course, and while their CDs weren't always blockbusters, they were never less than the most visible band of their area -- certainly, none of their peers continued to be as popular or productive as Bleu Voodoo. And no band since has proven to have such a broad fan base or far-reaching popularity, and it is impossible to hear any of the groups that followed them without detecting some sort of influence, whether it was musical or aesthetic.Fox 51 video promo, "Watch Fox"
