One Night At The Crescent is a celebration of the life and passion of one man. Not a famous or worldly man, but one who existed to live and share his love for music. One who was and still is a man simply living his dream…this is the story of Sam Jacobs.
Born and raised around Natchitoches in Central Louisiana, Sam drew from great jazz and blues players of the time who shaped his early musical style. His later influences included guitar greats such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Santana. From these greats he developed his love of playing lead guitar.
In 1973 he made his way to Nashville playing as a session musician. During that time Boudleaux and Felice Bryant were some of the number one songwriters on the Nashville scene. They wrote major hits for several big names of the day including Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and the Everly Brothers’ “Bye Bye Love†and “Wake Up Little Suzie.†Sam had the privilege of playing lead guitar for these songwriting greats on two albums, one of which Chet Atkins co-wrote. One could attribute the Bryant’s longest-lived songwriting success to the ever so popular TN theme song, “Rocky Top.†Other musical achievements of Sam’s include playing at Frank Sinatra’s 25th anniversary celebration for several well known and respected icons of the music industry. Living in The Music City, Sam loves playing out with friends in Nashville at venues including the legendary Bluebird Cafe, Springwater lounge, Jack’s Guitar Bar and the Nashville staple, The Hall of Fame lounge.
Within the last few years, Sam has taken ill, due to the ravaging effects of cancer. He has been battling this sickness on a roller coaster of ups and downs. One Night At the Crescent is a night for Sam, his friends and fellow musicians to open their souls and send music out into the world in the hope of creating joy for others. Come and share in this journey as we hope to see you there on this magical night! Peace and love.
