A funny little 3rd person bio i wrote about myself..
TonyB, normally known as Tony Brown, was born in Nashville, TN on February 12, 1993. This multi talented, sixteen year old has been around music all of his life. He grew up with his mother and sister, they're very "musical" people. Whether it was singing in the shower, in the car, or even at church, someone was always singing.
Though Tony didn't reach the realization of his singing abilities till around his preteen years, he was always a songwriter. Songwriting along with singing are massive passions of his. "When you write songs to express yourself, you feel free, like it's your thoughts and feelings that no one can take. It's a good feeling" - TonyB
Around 2001, Tony's sister, Porscha Monique Covington, started a small singing group with two of her other friends. The group was named, Innocence. He remembers them recording songs, one in particular called, "Gotta Go". They went on to do a couple of performances, but the group eventually fell through..This was the major point in Tony's life where he realized he wanted to become an entertainer..He watched everything the group did. From the songwriting, to studio recording, to performing. He wanted it, he was amazed by the whole process. At point in his life, he knew what he wanted to do..
Tony had already been writing songs here and there. But this is when he got serious about the whole thing. He practiced his writing everyday, and he knew it would make him better as a songwriter..so he didn't stop. Gradually, his songs became more and more readable. He knew he was getting there.
When Tony was just 9, he wrote a full fledged song, called "Why's This Happening To Me?" It was a song about the problems and complications of his mother moving away from him. It's also about how he blamed it on himself most of the time, and didn't really understand why. Although it was never his fault, he still feels the blame every now and then. The song was low quality and wasn't very well recorded, but with a $10 mic, that's the result. (It broke shortly after wards..)
Tony started to realize a lot of the songs were becoming about his moms. With titles like "Lost, "Why's This Happening To Me?", "When Will I See You Again", "Miss U".The songs were completely understandable, and a perfect way to vent.
The themes of his songs were changing along with him. Girls were now the focus of most of his songs. He couldn't help it. Every now and then he tried to write about other things, but that's all that came out on paper. But this was good, his songs were maturing and becoming more technical, he was growing up..
Summer of '07 was a nice summer for writing. On the account of he was on punishment all summer long. This time of no TV, computer, friends, phone, etc. was strangely a maturing experience for his writing and himself. It gave him time to experiment with different methods and styles of writing. Every night he did something to exercise his creative songwriting, and it definitely paid off.
January 2008. A few of Tony's family and friends came over just to hang out. One of his friends left a mic to a video game over..they had left, so he thought, "why not try this out?" Soon he hooked it into his PC, downloaded a DAW program called Mix Craft, and the journey started.
This is when TonyB tried his skills as a producer and singer. He didn't have much experience, or much to work with at all, but he did what he could. After a week, he had recorded and produced his first decent song, "Come On By". Even though it was still a low quality song, it had a catchy chorus, and was decent, considering the hard-to-work circumstances..
Tony continued to create songs after "Come On By" Until he compiled his first full CD in May of 2008 titled, "This Thing Called Me". He put a frequent amount of work into it, but he wasn't satisfied with how the CD sounded and felt as a whole. So he went with his gut feeling, and started from scratch.
In the same month, after dumping the tracks for his first CD (the day after completing it) he was determined to come back with fire. So to do that, he knew he had to step it up. That same week he went and bought a USB Condenser Mic at a small music store (about $110) and started fresh, with a new mic.
Along with his songwriting skills, raised his music producing, and vocal skills. He was stepping up all around. He diligently worked on his new first CD over the next few months. Creating songs like "Joyride", "Feet Off The Ground", and "Run Down". His songs were quickly becoming well written and performed..
In June 2008, TonyB released "Where Will I Be", the 1st song release from the upcoming CD, "Joyride". "It's about being crazy about someone, and the fact that you know where they are in your life, but you need to know where you are in theirs." -TonyB It received a nice response, and still does. It was one of the best songs written by TonyB yet. And there was definitely more to come..
In August 2008, songs "Joyride" and "Talk To Me Girl" were released as unofficial singles, and only as Myspace songs. Both received decent feedback, but "Where Will I Be" was still the main contender.
In September 2008, "Make You Sweat" was uploaded as the 2nd single release for the still not completed CD, "Joyride". "Make You Sweat" is an up-tempo club song that received an even bigger and better immediate response than "Where Will I Be". "Make You Sweat"'s the kinda fun to dance to song you hear on the radio. The one you can't get outta your head. The lyrics are a kinda PG, but the whole theme of the song makes sense at the very end" - Tony B
On November 21, 2008 the 1st CD from TonyB, "Joyride", was completed. "Joyride", the CD, was worked on for six months plus before it was completed. (The last month for mixing and tweaking) The whole CD was written and produced by TonyB. It's a 9 track CD..out of 15 songs prepared for the CD, only 9 were chosen. But it was finally getting sold to people. He had worked so hard and the CD sounds great, including the fact the setup was better than last time.
"My setup, and how i go about makin songs, it's like clockwork now. I've done the same and different process for so long, so I'm used to it now. If i get an idea, I know what to do, and it never gets old. But my experience with its grown 432,543,534 since i first started almost a year ago." - TonyB
Around the same time the CD "Joyride" was done. The 3rd song from the CD was released as a single.."Damage". "Damage is a slow, more ballad type song. The song deals with the troubles of relationships, and how some people don't realize the damage they leave behind after a relationship. It's a song everybody can relate to really." -TonyB
So 2008 has only been the smallest starting stone for TonyB. More songs to come, along with a few co labs, and a 2nd CD late April or May. (Possibility of iTunes!!! O.O!)
Note from TonyB:
Yeah..those are small achievements, but they actually mean something to me. And they're not even close to what I plan on doing soon..
I wanna be the one on that stage at the Grammys one day..
I wanna be the one on the Billboard Charts..
I wanna be the one receiving a RIAA "Platinum" Certification..
I wanna be the one signing autographs..
I wanna be the one with crazy fans..
I wanna be the one going to interviews..
I wanna be the one in the studio recording my album..
I wanna be the one making music videos..
I wanna be the one headlining a concert..
I wanna be the one with the experience..
And one day, I will.
