Better Off is a three piece band located in Calgary, Alberta. They play aggressive hard rock with a bit of punk influence. All of the songs Better Off play were written by Ian Demoskoff... some stem back as far as 4 years ago, others have been written in the past 2 years. Ian had been playing parts of the Better Off catalogue with various groups of people over the years, but it wasn't until early 2005 that he found a group of musicians in which he would be able to start the band Embryo with. By the addition of Marc Greenan as their new drummer, Embryo set out playing various shows around Calgary and managed to record demo's of songs that would become staples in any Better Off live show. In late 2005, Embryo needed to find a new bass player. Shawn Paterson came along to fill the duties, it was around that time they felt the need to change their name to BETTER OFF... a true description. Better Off have kept playing shows around Calgary and making numerous public appearences. They are currently recording new material to be enjoyed by all.
