About Me

KEEP is a growing, grass roots organization that did not exsist until Erie Renewable Energy (ERE), proposed the WORLD'S LARGEST TIRE INCINERATOR, to be located on the east side of Erie next to people's homes, neighborhoods, businesses, schools, and 500 yards away from Lake Erie. KEEP's mission is to ensure that this tire incinerator is never built. KEEP's vision is that an activated citizenry offers the best hope, to convince our political officials to act wisely to safegaurd public health and saftey.Erie Renewable Energy plans to have 85,000 dirty tires delivered to it's east Erie site daily. It plans to burn 2 million pounds of tires per day. Yearly, there will be 2,900,000 pounds of fine and ultrafine toxic particles exhausted from it's stack. That is 8,000 pounds of toxic particle emissions per day. 7 days per week. ERE proposed to store 1,000,000 tires at a time onsite. If these stored tires catch fire, the results are catastrophic. This plant is planning to reside right next door to the following Schools- Edison Elementary, Wayne Middle School, East High School, Gertrude A Barber Center, Burton Elementary School, Diehl Elementary School, GECAC Charter School, Holy Family Elementary School, Wesleyville Elementary School, Lawrence Park Elementray School, Iroquois High School, and the Boys & Girls Club.80 Semi Trucks or 40 Rail Cars will deliver 800 tons of tires every single day. These tires will accumulate to 1 MILLION tires stored on premesis, breeding mosquitos, and disease carrying rodents. These emissions from the plant WILL affect the health of our citizens. This plant will create only 60 jobs.Let's do something about it! Stop the tire plant now!..
