www.myspace.com/kristenbussandriKristen Bussandri is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose rich, raspy voice and soulful pop songs are starting to turn heads.Raised in Montreal, Kristen grew up to the sounds of Jazz, Blues and French chansonniers that echoed all around her. Her love of music was also fostered by her father, who, despite being severely hearing impaired, always enjoyed listening to his records from the 60s and 70s. Kristen was introduced early on to classic songwriters like Tom Petty and Cat Stevens, to Soul and Motown artists like Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, and to haunting female vocalists like Eva Cassidy and Billie Holiday. Somewhere out of that eclectic mix has come her own original songs; smartly written, instantly appealing, and passionately delivered. In college, Kristen spent many nights singing in local venues and enjoying the endless music festivals Montreal hosts year-round. At 22, she was swept-up in the city's indie-rock explosion and got hired to work under the wing of concert impresario Donald K Donald. Producing live events, she worked behind the scenes with some of Canada's best talent, including Leslie Feist and the Sam Roberts Band. At night, she wrote songs and started recording, singing back-up for many of the city's best musicians.A fiercely independent artist, Kristen wasn't happy to leave the business side of her career up to others. In 2006, she packed her bags and moved to a tiny apartment in New York to begin a Masters degree in the Music Business at NYU. While in school, she performed regularly around Brooklyn and caught the eye of studio owner Mike Kissel (KMA Music) and Grammy-winer Ann Ruckert, who are helping to refine her sound and songwriting skills. Now fresh-out-of-school, and armed with plenty of determination, Kristen is working on recording her first EP. Stay tuned for more![LOVEMYFLASH]
