Longest Walk NM

About Me

On February 11th, 2008, Longest Walk participants embarked on a 5 month journey on foot from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. arriving on July 11th. The Longest Walk 2 is a grassroots effort on a national level to bring attention to the environmental disharmony of Mother Earth. It intends to bring attention to the health and wellbeing of Our Mother Earth, our people, communities and the protection and preservation of Sacred Sites.
The Longest Walk is an Indian spiritual walk, a historical walk; and it is a walk for educational awareness to the American and the World communities about the concerns of American Indian people.
We shall walk for the Seventh Generation, for our youth, for peace, for justice, for healing of Mother Earth, for the healing of our people suffering from diabetes, heart conditions, alcoholics, drug addictions, and other diseases.
We shall walk to protect sacred sites in our country, to promote positive change in our world, for human rights and to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original Longest Walk while cleaning up the road along the way. Clean up Mother Earth!
"We walk with a message: All Life is Sacred, Save Mother Earth.
Through the elements of the seasons, we shall walk through the rain, snow, over mountains, high winds, through the heat and cold, nothing shall deter us from completing our mission: All Life is Sacred, Protect Sacred Sites.
Let those who doubt, hear our pledge. Let those who believe, join our ranks. As we walk the final miles, by our side will be elders, families, children, people of all races, from many walks of life, the old and the new America. All Life is Sacred, Clean Up Mother Earth."

WELCOME TO NEW MEXICO Our mission as a community is to help accommodate the Longest Walk as they make their way through the “Land of Enchantment”. We’ll do our best to provide all the necessities so they can continue on their journey as safe as possible. New Mexico is here to support this noble effort. SAVE MOTHER EARTH so our children, their children and their children's children have a future to look forward to.

- "FALSE IMITATION OF THE LONGEST WALK and other events" We've recieved an email about organizations putting events in the name of the Longest Walk and kept the money to themselves rather than donating it to the Walks and other events that's mocking the Native American. Some places caught on that they were faked and got kicked out. There are rumors about another group following behind the Walks which none of the Walks had heard anything about it. They said they heard that some places complained that the spaces they left were dirty after they departed but couldn't understand why because they cleaned them. Now they know why. We suggest everyone spread the words, get it to the media, communicate to the stay places ahead of time that way we distance ourselves from these people, and not get blamed for their shenanigans. Longest Walk is a spiritual walk with many positive purposes. This is something not to be taken lightly and for personal gain. If anyone heard of an event that's for the Longest Walk and it isn't in the Longest Walk's website calendar, please contact Tashina Banks at [email protected]
