About Me

Kurt Schwitters, Eve Blossom

Do you know it, Eve? Do you already know it? One can also read you from the back And you, you most glorious of all, You are from the back as from the front, E-V-E.

The profile is a view from the side, and on a site, this site. This one view, though, allows me to demonstrate versatility. My name is Christina John and not Eve Blossom, so nothing is the same back to front. I combine the new and the different with what always remains the same: openness and creativity – see more at www.christinajohn.de

Guiding my idea of design is the image of a ray of light splitting on a prism: every idea contains an infinite number of possibilities and all you need is the right perspective to make them visible. My ambition is not simply to resort to well-worn methods for projects and ideas. It lies in seeking out all possibilities and in finding the aberration of light that will lend an idea the biggest impact.

Before everything stands the task of communicating an idea, product, or service, of drawing attention and getting people thinking. Every such task is a new challenge and an exploration of the seemingly innumerable possibilities lying within it. In this process communication is the main idea, but it is also central to its realization. Realizing the impossibility of communicating without others, I believe in the centrality of exchanging thoughts, ideas, insights, and experiences as much as in the importance of integrating different interpretations and points of view when choosing a concept. After all, language is being that can be understood.

I observe people, xobjects, and situations, and whether what I come across is natural or artificial, it is always open to observation. Sometimes, I set into scene and illuminate what had been obscured, remaining an observer until I take the shot. Then I observe my work, myself as observer, and see what I have seen: persons, objects, and situations in their artlessness or artifice. And I see what I had not seen: a surprise risen from the meeting of situation, content, concept, light, and emotion, and a reality that has grown out of the openness of the object.

These two vantage points create a tension and constantly open up new ideas and directions. They are pure inspiration and an important aspect of my design.
