Bob McCarthy began his musical career in New York and Boston/Cambridge area coffeehouses and college concerts in the late 1960s. In addition to his solo career, he has shared the stage with founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, Jorma Kaukonen, Bonnie Raitt, The Everly Brothers, Pentangle, Tim Hardin, John Prine, Neil Young, Buddy Miles, Taj Mahal, Dion, Leo Kottke, Livingston Taylor, Steve Goodman, Jay Leno, Jerry Jeff Walker, Delfeayo Marsalis, and many others. McCarthy's CD, "Star of the Sea", includes the electric version of "Transfiguration" with the slide guitar of the late Rod Price, founding member of the rock group, Foghat.A native of Detroit, James Montgomery learned first-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells - at the legendary "Chessmate." In 1970, while attending Boston University, Montgomery formed the James Montgomery Band.Four decades of friendship which began in Boston in 1967 when they formed a jug band to perform at area colleges and coffeehouses, has continued to be one of the finest acoustic blues duo's in the country.
