Blair Witch was formed by Mibo and Shinya after a concert in the middle of 2006. We wanted to show that all female bands can play Metal too, so Mibo found another two members and Blair Witch was born. The first line-up was Shinya on guitar, Tama on bass, Mibo on drums and Sayo on keyboards and vocals. We soon faced some problems with the vocals, so Shinya asked her ex band member Ice to take over that role, which she did in late 2006. The first line-up for Blair Witch was finally complete. We were a pretty boring Pop Metal band at first, trying to sound like Nightwish, Evanesence, After Forever... But after Ice joined, the whole band started to move in a much heavier and extreme direction.
In early 2007 Tama and Sayo left for personal reasons. We had to find new members again, so Blair Witch stopped for a while before Mai took over on bass in September. Our first concert was at Apa 808, Taipei on January 5th, 2008. Metalheads in Taiwan were given their first taste of the all girl Blair Witch. Unfortunately, Mibo left the band straight after this concert. Blair Witch, getting sick of member problems, started seeking a new drummer. A PO thankfully took over that position a few months later. The current Blair Witch was born with the line-up Shinya on guitar, Mai on bass, A PO on drums and Ice on shrieks. After a long and messy situation we have given up trying to find a new keyboardist, and are now more interested in creating our own anthems or raw Black Metal.
Our second live show was on November 29th, 2008, at Underworld, Taipei. We were happy to play some of our own songs for the first time. After that we tried to record but found that we still had some issues we needed to deal with, so rather than come out with something we didn't like we decided to wait until we felt the time was right. Now recording is the biggest priority for Blair Witch. In 2009/2010 we hope to record an album and join some of the big Metal festivals in Taiwan to show the country our own version of Metal insanity!
