About Me

Layout by CoolChaserLet me make this perfectly clear; I love music. Not that sit in the car and try to get the lyrics right singing along kind of love. I love the individual pieces and parts and decisions on the part of musicians and producers that thoughtfully come together to create a perfect picture. What we commonly call “A Hit”. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to experience many magical moments in my career, in bars, recording studios, even church services. Starring or accompanying roles equally rewarding. I live for the moments when the music comes from so far inside me; I am not even sure where the notes came from. I call it channeling. I love it when a performance has gone so well that there is a moment of audience silence followed by a gradual increase in applause that climaxes in a roaring crescendo of appreciation. I cut my teeth on Mark Farner and Carlos Santana, marveled at the innovations supplied by Clapton, Page, and Hendrix, was baffled by the brilliance of Beck and the deep introspective tonal imagery achieved by Trower, Inspired by the harnessing of emotional energy displayed by Stevie Ray and cherish the mastery of Wes and Kenny Burrell. I love to listen to the individual contributions that seamlessly make a song a hit; how three notes at the right time can make a passage indelible in people’s memories for all their days. I would rather copy a style than a solo. It surprises me when even fellow performers do not realize I have done so. I hardly ever play anything lick for lick. I love creating my own moments in studio projects. My biggest regret is I have had so few opportunities to do so. I have a beautiful, charming wife and two engaging and vivacious daughters. They bring me great joy…most of the time. Life is a rollercoaster that we all have to ride. No matter how rough the ride, we should all be certain that the worst possible scenario would be for it to end. So hang on and enjoy!

My Interests

My one true love... Also Music (as mentioned), Photography, Writing, Excruciatingly slow home improvement, Cooking, Trips to St. Martin and other destinations that offer clothing optional beaches. Of course there are also these two Bozos....

I'd like to meet:

Sting, Bill Clinton, Kelly Monaco, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Hugh Hefner, Gisele, Adriana Lima, (and maybe much later) Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Carson. Jon Bon Jovi too so I could introduce him to my wife....she would like that. I'd also like to see you here...

Music:

Zen Blues Quartet, Sante Fe, Steely Dan, Tower of Power, West Coast Horn bands. John Mayer has a boatload of talent. I don't want to listen to any song that starts with "Yo".

Movies:

Small films with good scripts that allow the actors some freedom. Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, and Clint Eastwood directed films.

Television:

My wife commands the remote. I watch her taped soaps with her and she endures my sardonic comments concerning the actor's abilities (not you Kelly, you are great).

Books:

I'm reading "Understanding Exposure" right now (photography instructional). I'd rather write than read.

Heroes:

Eric Clapton. Enduring and endearing. Prevailed through all manner of crisis and still remains intact and on top.
