I'm a session musician and teacher based in the North West of England.
I studied music at Leeds University, graduating in 2001 and specialising in classical performance on flute.
I play all sorts but I specialise in jazz music. I play regularly with two Django-Rheinhardt style gypsy jazz bands, Swingology and Trez Fez. I've had the good fortune to play with and alongside some great gypsy jazz musicians, including Gary Potter and John Jorgensen.
I play in a duo with my good friend and fabulous accordianist and vocalist, Helen Maher. We call ourselves 'The Bluebirds', and play a range of jazz and gypsy jazz style tunes. We also sing in close harmony - think The Andrews Sisters and you're half there!
I have sessioned with all sorts of folks, from celtic music to Beatles covers to radio jingles to jive to European folk to Indie rock music! I can play by ear and can usually find something that fits! It's a great challenge to play with new musicians and in unfamiliar genres.
