About Me

i started playing in bands as a drummer for the bands "lucky luke was a junkie" (1990-19991) and "nixme" (1991-1994). in 1992 i began writing and performing my own songs (sombre shoe-gaze ditties and hardcore songs) with a band that had the silly name "off m", now playing guitar and singing. around 1996 all those projects had ceased to exist, it was time for multitrack recording in the basement. the first attempts were simple 4-track tunes, from 1997 to 2003 more tunes were recorded on a tascam 8-track cassette recorder. the first full album with millepede songs was released in 1999 (peeled and cored), in 2000 a the cure tribute followed (remedy) the song "in your house" off this cd was also on the buenos aires based cure tribute "pink pig project" and even got a positive mention in the magazine "record collector". the next cd (downer) was finished in 2001, it features original songs again and its mood is darker and more melancholic. then came the great upgrade: a 16-track recorder. the third and current album (i wouldn't sing with that voice) was produced with this thing. like all other releases it features various guest musicians. currently new songs (4-track demos) are waiting to be recorded properly. expect delay. apart from the millepede world there have been some musical projects over the years like "pümpel", "hering malser" and the revived "nixme" (now "husband") - it's always great fun playing with other music fans creating soundscapes. too many names to mention, if they want to be named anyway. however, there is one that must be named: hubert (1980-2005). he was a real friend, great guitarist and singer and has to be considered a true member of millepede. right now millepede is recording the next album. expect delay.a video of a concert in 2007 can be watched here:

Influences: short answer: f**k this question. long answer: some bands you'll immediately recognize as a reference and some you'd never imagine they could have been an influence. anyone who soaks up music like a sponge squeezes it out again in different ways. and of course there's tons of non-musical influences. but all that is your crosswordpuzzle in my eyes. i won't rub your nose in it. what i like are mainly guitar bands like (in no particular order): fugazi, mogwai, the cure, sonic youth, jesus lizard, radiohead, lemonheads, shellac, tomte, sugarplastic, the evens, mclusky, therapy?, black sabbath, beatles, pixies, shipping news, suede, breeders, marr, future of the left, eels, dinosaur jr, melvins, sick of it all, charlottefield, ramones, oasis, mudhoney, gorilla biscuits, beck, old ac/dc, blonde redhead, vic chesnutt, elvis costello, public image ltd., echo and the bunnymen, juliana hatfield, joy division, lagwagon, nofx, bracket, monofreaks, ultraphallus, motorpsycho, nirvana, eyes adrift, pavement, sebadoh, my bloody valentine, slapshot, stone temple pilots, big bon jou, television personalities, graham coxon, the vines, flipper, valina...
