Boomstick

Looking back, where did the time go by?

About Me

Boomstick was formed in the summer of 2002 by Michael “Celt” Doss on guitar and Marty “Root” Johnson on bass. Shortly after forming, the final piece of the puzzle came into play with the introduction of Jay “Metro” Gregory into the band as the drummer. The band wanted to mesh a heavy edge sound while still maintaining a vocal integrity of singing and harmony vocals.Their first full length CD “Maximum Tunageness” was released in late 2002 and the band began playing shows around the Kansas City area. 2003 was a very busy year for the band, playing many Midwest area shows, as well as opening for Stryper and King’s X. Boomstick was a finalist in the “Club Wars 3” competition, ending in the top 5 of over 65 bands in KC. During this year, they also began work on the followup to their debut CD.2004 brought about another successful year, beginning with a huge CD Release party at the Madrid Theater in Kansas City for the band’s second offering, entitled “Shatter”. Many other shows were played this year 2005 was a year of preparation for what is to come.2006 was right out, with Boomstick playing their final performance opening for Naked Beggars, an offshoot of the popular 80's group, Cinderella.
