Moved onto working for Ralph Carr at Standard Music when i turned 20, promoting the then girl group S2S. From merchandising, making sure artist exposure was at a peak, creating demand and learning about target audiences/marketing - it was a great place to learn "the biz". Took a break from music & moved into another field that I felt completely comfortable with - Sales and took a 4 year break from the entertainment industry.
2001-2004
After seeing the movie "Boiler Room" (which is one of my favourite movies) I decided prospecting business looked easy. With marketing skills, ability to create a demand and a pleasant fun loving character, I made the customers want whatever product I was selling. Within 3 short months, I became Optus Telecommunications' Top Residential Sales Execs Australia-Wide. After successfully completing that challenge and 4 years at the top of Optus' highest performers, I was looking for a new direction and decided a 3 month trip around the world.
Although mainly a vacation, Dan used the last leg of his world trip in New York & LA a great base to get back into the music business by having meetings with musicians in NY and being introduced to hip hop artists such as Ice Cube in LA.
2005
Back in Australia in 2005, a chance meeting with RnB artist Israel, Dan re-established his interest in the music scene!
2006
Most of '06 i was heavily involved in Nu Firm Records. Assisting distribute Nu Firm: Operation Save music Mixtape, acting as publicist for Stan Bravo and NU FIRM's participation in the Urban Music Awards & MTV Awards. While learning from Israel & co. and obtaining great experience, I decided to focus purely on publicity & artist management and established my own company S.M.A.C.K. Entertainment. Standing for Superior Management And Critical Knowledge - I focus on Artist management & promotions purely in the RnB & Hip Hop Genre of music.
October 2006 - current
Established S.M.A.C.K. Entertainment & signed on to manage his first artist - Rnb sensation Cristian Alexanda.
November 2006 - Signed on to Manage Australian songstress and amazing songwriter Catherine Chamoun.
July 2007
- 2 Week trip to New York, worked with Poe Boy Entertainment's DJ Papa Smirf (Rick Ross's DJ) and met with numerous record labels for Cristian, recorded with Ja Rule & Fabolous & filmed Cristian's new video there.
2008
- Completed Cristian Alexanda's 2nd Album Urban Nature with brand new single "TOO FINE" featuring Ja Rule dropping March.
Signed on to Manage Australia's hottest upcoming pop star Per-air-a.Greatest Time: Travelling to New York, seeing my Italian & African relos and Collingwood premiership 1990 and Kaz of course!
Travelling the world & gettin hitched to kazza and managing my artists (or my babies) cris, catherine and Peraira.Meeting Fabolous, Ja Rule and others on recent trip to NY for cristian's album was awesome too.
Favorite Food - Pasta(that's the wog in me), Pizza, wholemeal pancakes,milo cereal and nutragrain.
Love - Firstly the big man upstairs - JC- Its all for you homeboy. Love my woman,love ladies(as friends), love my apartment, my benz, my plasma and my dvd collection. Love action movies, Van Damme is my favorite, but growin up with 90s films - also like steven seagal, stallone, schwarzenegger etc etc. love the gym & gettin back into bodybuilding. 4 months down - a lifetime to go.vanilla vodka & Lemonade is my drink of choice!
