As a young child in Caracas, Venezuela, Fernando Lodeiro always wanted to play the guitar. Being the only real musician at heart, it wasn’t until the age of 14 that he finally got the guitar he longed for. Fernando was self-taught, and began playing in bars around the city with musicians at least twice his age by the time he was 15.After graduating with honors from high school at the age of 16, Fernando moved to Mexico City to study in the “Academia de Música Fermattaâ€. It was the first time that Fernando studied guitar and music formally. After one semester, he auditioned for Berklee College of Music and got a scholarship, however, even with the scholarship the college was still too expensive. It was not until one year later, when he auditioned once again, that The World Scholarship Tour was able to grant him a larger scholarship. Along with the World Scholarship, Fernando received a full scholarship from SGAE (Sociedad de Autores y Compositores), the Berklee International Network Augmentation Scholarship, and funding from a private organization that permitted him to attend Berklee College of Music where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Music Production and Engineering in August of 2007.At the end of October 2007, Fernando moved to New York City and a couple of weeks after he started working at “Avatar Studiosâ€, which is catalogued as one of the best 10 recording studios in the world. Since then, Fernando has worked with artists like Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, Shrek The Musical, Sean Jones, Greg Skaff Trio and many others. As a performer, he has shared the stage with big names such as Rubén Blades, Marco Duran, Tiwa Savage, Rodrigo Rojas, and others. He also plays with his band “Cactus Rebelde†who have played in most of Boston’s larger venues, and built up a strong following. In October of 2007, “Cactus Rebelde†went on tour to Venezuela for the “International Festival of The Arts in Valencia†and they also played a show in the capitol of the country, Caracas. Fernando also started his career as a session player at Berklee, playing in more than 30 recordings within the college.
