Pete is a happily married proud parent and business owner born and raised in North Omaha. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln from 1983 to 1988 where he was commisioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army in 1987. While in college he worked at the Club Car Grill and Bar, met many friends and was the front man for two bands (Broken Jesus and Jot Zombie). After attending the Armor school at Ft. Knox and Airborne school at Ft. Benning in 1988-89, Pete spent three years in Germany as a scout platoon leader and support platoon leader for 3/4 Cav. in Schweinfurt. He met many friends overseas and even found time for music and theater as a vocalist, actor and percussionist. Pete returned to Lincoln, NE in 1992...civilian, divorced and jobless. It didn't take long to get the band back together. With the help of old friends, Mudjack was born in 1992 and Pete was fronting a band once again. Not long after coming back to Lincoln, Pete also met the love his life, Diana Hafermann. Pete and Diana have been a dedicated couple since July 1993 and celebrated the birth of their only child, Miriam, on January 10th, 1996. After a brief stint as a ballroom dance instructor for Fred Astaire dance studios, Pete worked for Gallup Inc. in Lincoln as an interviewer from 1992-93. Pete began working for Twisters Music in 1993 as floor help, warehouse help and eventually became the manager of the Twisters store at Nebraska Crossing in 1994 shortly before they were purchased by the Homers chain. In January 1996, two weeks after Miriam was born, Pete left Homers and began working as a temporary employee for the State of NE Dept. of Corrections. Pete had returned to military service as a reservist Captain in 1994, eventually becoming the company commander for A Co. 4/302 Cav. in Lincoln at the Pershing Army Reserve center. Pete took a permanent position with the Dept of Corrections in 1996 working as canteen operator at the Lincoln Correcional Center. In March 1997 Pete’s life changed again when his father, Dan passed away after suffering with lung cancer. Pete left his position with the Dept of corrections and gave up his reserve command to attend to his father’s estate. Pete moved his family to Omaha and has spent the last 11 years operating the family business, Gateway Welding Co., Inc. Pete and Diana finally found the time for a wedding on September 19, 1998...later than they wanted, but worth all the waiting.
