About Me

My name is Erik and this is my page where I will display my songs, ideas, and other projects that I am involved with. For a more personal connection please add my personal myspace page or add me on facebook.
Currently, I am writing and performing with my new band, The Riot Scene and I am also trying to stay current with the latest ways to promote an indie band (not indie genre) in todays music business world.Below is my history....I've been playing guitar for the past 19 years. I mainly specialize in rock/post punk/prog/blues/some jazz/ and anything that my style works with. I originally studied classical as a child but wanted to move on to Rock theory. After wasting my parents money on rock hasbeens, I decided to learn via the wonderful guitar tab books out there. In high school I wanted an opportunity to play guitar and found it through the school disctricts Jazz Band. I studied jazz for about 3 years with Pat McGee. After that it was time to focus on building a professional performing band...Element-9 was the first "real" project that I started with my friends Frank Ramirez (Drums), Joseph Patlin (Vocals), and Cassie Velasquez (Bass). Later on down the road we received new members replacing lost members; JR Taylor (Vox), from Room 213 and now Amid The Crash, and Braden Ford (bass), from Room 213. I played all the guitar tracks on both EP's, one which was never finished because we disbanded before it's release. In 2010, I hope to dust off those unreleased songs and re-record them with Frank for a possible 2011 "digital" release. After Element-9 disbanded I joined a popular Austin band called Firekills. I took over guitar duties for Jamie Martinez so that he could concentrate on being the Frontman for this ever powerful band. Together with Jamie, Daniel (Drums), David (Guitar), and Jon (Bass) I had many firsts. Later on down the road, members were replaced with Jimmy (guitars) Curtis, Sal and Jeremy (bass). There were many things learned, experianced, and memories created within this band. As much fun as I was having things were coming to a hault, and on April 4th 2008 we played our last show. We reunited a year later with Austin's Rubberhed on April 10th, 2009.
