Pro Se Recordings was founded by MC/Producer/DJ Cadence, of the respected indie hip hip duo Raw Produce. The Latin phrase "pro se" (pronounced "pro say") literally means "for self" and the phrase is commonly used to refer to people who go to court as their own lawyer--in other words they "represent themselves." The concept of "representing yourself" exemplifies the spirit behind the label, which is dedicated to providing opportunities for talented MCs to shine.
Pro Se Recordings (which began with Raw Produce's 2006 release of “Selling Celery To Get a Salary”) has already released Zimbabwe Legit's “House of Stone” and is set to release Saint's “About Time” in 2008. In it's brief history, Pro Se releases have already featured appearances from a star studded cast, including Mike G (Jungle Brothers), YZ, Prince Po (Organized Konfusion), Chubb Rock, Skillz, El da Sensei, Mr. Man (Bush Babees), Asheru, Breez Evahflowin', Mr. Complex , 7L & Esoteric, Akrobatik, J Rawls, Thes One (PUTS) and many more.
