I remember early winter mornings,
getting ready for school.
Laying by the fireplace,
back in 1992.
Drinking chocolate instant breakfast,
as mom and dad watched the news.
Wishing for another snow days rest,
but the weather never followed through.
I feel it like it was yesterday,
never knowing where I was going,
but always thought I'd find my way.
I feel it like I want it back,
wanting time to just rewind,
but knowing that it's in the past.
Friends have passed along the way,
it's hard to see the reasons why.
But knowing the sun would shine again one day,
Has helped the pain to pass us by.
Natasha and I smoked cigarettes together.
My dad and I would go panning for gold.
My mom and I could talk forever.
And I'd never do as I was told.
High school was always such a drag,
but I won't forget the friends I had.
Boyfriends and Girlfriends both I had,
always certain that it was love at last.
