Jennifer started performing in musicals and plays as early on as elementary school and went on to high school to participate in band, choir, and drama. She was also a part of the Teen Theatre Troupe for Sanilac County Health Department's Teen to Teen program.
In 2007, Sanilac County Fairboard had auditions for the Second Annual Shining Star- an American Idol-esque singing competition. Jennifer's audition served her well as one of the judges, Jay Williams, was planning on putting together a showcase of local vocal talent in the near future, and shortly afterward, Jennifer was contacted about the opportunity.
Singers' Showcase at Liberty Lanes didn't come to fruition until nearly one year later, however it was definitely worth the wait. The show has rapidly grown in popularity and the singers, including Jennifer, have been growing as performers and honing their talentsJennifer was a finalist in the 2008 Shining Star Competition, and is a finalist in the 2009 Shining Star Competition. She is also the 2009 Deckerville Idol.
Jennifer Vance is currently working on a Blues/Soul band project.
Jennifer has a very ecclectic style and likes to experiment with her sound and her favorite instrument, her voice. She has a passion for the music from the 1920's through the 1960's, but also loves to sing Garbage, Hole, Flyleaf, The Vagiants, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when playing Rock Band with her friends. Knowing the value of broadening horizons, she is always open to requests and suggestions for music styles, songs, etc. Her ideal venues are those where a variety of music is welcomed and enjoyed, as she likes to change things up and keep the audience guessing as to what she'll do that night.
