About Me

SaRGaM , primera escuela de mÃºsica de la India de habla hispana fue formada por Ariel-Chab-Tarab y Rasikananda Das en 1995 y formalmente inaugurada en julio de 2000 con la presencia del personal de la comunidad y la Embajada de la India en Buenos Aires. Su nombre deriva de las primeras notas de la escala de la mÃºsica de la India, Sa Re Ga Ma. Los sargams son una especie de solfeo en lo que es llamado svÄr sadhanÄ o prÃ¡ctica inicial de reconocimiento de las notas, principalmente en el estudio de mÃºsica vocal.

SaRGaM , the first School of Indian Music in Latinamerica, works as a network operating within several cities in Argentina. It makes the learning of this ancient musical discipline easier by bridging language, cultural and idiosyncratic barriers. The School was founded jointly by Ariel-Chab-Tarab and Rasikananda Das, with their masters' blessing and authorization. On July 30th 2000 the School was oficially launched, sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of India in Buenos Aires. The Indian Counsel of Cultural Relations of New Delhi (ICCR) sent a donation of musical instruments for that special occasion.

Ariel Chab-Tarab estudiÃ³ sitar durante varios aÃ±os en la India con la Dra. Krishna Chakravarty , Ph.D (discÃpula del Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar). AdemÃ¡s estudiÃ³ con Ram Das Chakravarty, Ph.D, Maestro de la Senia Gharana. TambiÃ©n cursÃ³ estudios de Hindi y ApreciaciÃ³n Musical en la Banaras Hindu University , Benares (India) egresando con los correspondientes diplomas.

Rasikananda Das toca tablÄ desde 1987. ComenzÃ³ sus estudios en la India con Sri Shyam Srivastava y luego del fallecimiento de Ã©ste con Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma, de quien es discÃpulo oficial (shagird). EstudiÃ³ ademÃ¡s el estilo farrukhabadi de tablÄ con los maestros pandit Suresh Talwalkar y Sri Nitin Pore de la Escuela Gandharva Mahavidyalaya , de la ciudad de Puna. Es en la misma India que toma iniciaciÃ³n espiritual con Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Swami , maestro de la tradiciÃ³n vaishnava.

Ariel Chab-Tarab studied sitar during several years in India with Dra. Krishna Chakravarty , Ph.D (disciple of Master Pandit Ravi Shankar), and also with Ram Das Chakravarty, Ph.D, Master of the Senia Gharana. He attended the Banaras Hindu University (Banaras, India), and double majored in Hindi Langue and Musical Appreciation.

Rasikananda Das studied tablÄ and vocal music under the tutelage of Profesor Shyam Srivastava, at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in Prashanti Nilayam, India. After the demise of professor Srivastava, he returned home and came back to India to study and receive instruction in tablÄ and pakhavaj from Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma, a scholar in musical science and sanskrit, who traveled all around the world delivering concerts and classes, usually at major universities. He later took spiritual initiation in the ancient holy city of Vrindavan, India, from His Grace Srila B.A. Paramadvaiti Swami , receiving the name of Rasikananda Das.
