CHUBBY

Chubby were a hardcore band that existed for a short time between 1998 and 2000. They practised in the cellar of the pub that was home to drummer Chris, amongst beer barrels and puddles of water in which the the cables kept dragging. They had no P.A or equipment to speak of, just a lot of pent-up energy, frustration and not much else to do. In that year they did a handful of gigs in which drums were continually smashed around, basslines completely forgotten and guitars so out of tune it was funny. Thier last ever gig was at Chris’ birthday party in Feb 2000, before which Stuart managed to crash his car into a lamppost, sustain a head ingury and write-off his mini. But Chubby still played that night. Dressed as clowns.They recorded two eps, which were a collision of the Epitaph-type punk at the time such as NOFX/Pennywise and old school U.S hardcore like Minor Threat.
