Band Members: Matthew "Wa-ya" Wolfe. A one man show. I play: guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, saw blades, marimba, anvil, and anything else that makes the sound I need. Oh, the electric guitar is named Jessica. The folk guitar is Becky. * * * * * * That being said, I am just your ordinary bi-polar Cherokee/Iroquois Jew who sees the future when hawks screech in a north-west wind and knows from experience that there are alternate realities. * * * * * * *"We well know that the reason most of us are here is because of our affinity for disobedience." -- Morpheus, The Matrix Reloaded.
Influences: Pick Floyd, Charles Ives, SRV, Rush, Van Gogh, Yes, Ursula Le Guin, Edgar Varese, Robbie Robertson, Zappa, King Crimson, John Cage, John Steinbeck, Salvador Dali, Boston, Ulali, Afro Celt, Don McLean, Kansas, Vonnegut. My first musical memory is the chime part to Herb Albert's "Lobo." It nailed me to the floor. I was about 3 years old and have craved music ever since. Thus the twenty plus years I denied myself the pleasures of playing may have had the single biggest influence.
Sounds Like: Where ever my head is when I write and record a song. Or, to put it another way: They said, "You have a blue guitar, You do not play things as they are." I replied, "Things as they are, are changed upon the blue guitar." -- paraphrase from Wallace Stevens . . .
Record Label: Why would I do that to myself?
Type of Label: Indie
