----------------------Hi everybody! Welcome to "Stack O' Sides" Stymee's 78rpm Junk Shop Score....the soundtrack for the socially corrupt and morally obscene!these are my records. I collect all sorts of records from the turn of the century to the late 30's. blues, jazz, country, string bands, pop, vocal, novelty, all sorts of stuff.
I find most of my stuff in junk shops in the north west....but I also find em' at yard sales, estate sales, and auctions too.Blues and Jazz didn't hit very hard out here in these parts when these records where being made, so the majority of good stuff I find is primarily of the "hillbilly" and early popular variety. that's the kind of stuff that was in circulation back then in the north west. blues and Jazz 78's have been so heavily mined that you usually pay top dollar for them....and being the dewdropper that I am, I don't find alot of that stuff...as often as I'd like (but tomorrows another day)....and the days of going door to door in search of good shit from the 1920's are pretty much over. all the collectors from previous generations already did it! it's thanks to them that we are able to hear thoes old recordings today....but despite all of that, there's still really good stuff out there...just waiting to be found! ...and I should know, cause Im always lookin'....and I do find great stuff!
...and it's not just Blues and jazz thats really good....theres tons of stuff! most (if not all) of the old blues musicians sang popular songs in their repertoire. they just didn't usually record it cause the recording industry wanted white people to sing pop, and black people to sing Blues..... although there are some great tunes that snuck through the radar. the recording industry (and just big business in general) has always been fucked up as far as Im concerned...but thankfully this shit got recorded!anyway heres some music for your ear buds. hope you like it as much as I do.
I'll put new songs up every so often and you can download em' too. also, if you like this stuff make sure to check out johnny bitterman's Records! he's got a great collection. it was seeing his page that inspired me to get around to making this one.
hell, you should make one too if you collect.....even if it is on the Rupert Murdoch space"!!!ENJOY THE MUSIC FOLKS!!!!!
