King Oliver

About Me

"One of the most promising and exciting bands of 2009 "
- Christian O'Connell, Absolute Radio
"Marvellously distinctive"
- Linda Serck, BBC
King Oliver is a three piece acoustic indie act with shades of Lou Reed, MGMT and Arcade Fire.
Formed of lead vocalist, pianist and guitarist Louis Thomas; guitarist and backing vocalist Dexter Firth; and Simon Jones, who plays most instruments and also sings of course, King Oliver formed in 2008 to perform and record music that they had penned individually over ten years in the wilderness.
The result is a refreshing mix of driving acoustic rhythm, soaring pop melodies, electro undertones and improvised percussion. Well written songs for grown up kids.
- Evening News
Dexter wrote a song about a girl in America. It was played on Absolute Radio and got a great response. Here it is:
One Half Down (By Dexter Firth)
