Last of The Dinosaurs

About Me

Last of the Dinosaurs is a young rock band heavily influenced by the Twin Cities’ independent rock scene. The songs range from slow and heavy to fast and… heavy. No matter what the tone or dynamic of a tune, it can be appreciated by many audiences. One can listen simply to chill out and groove or one can study the technicalities each member puts into the performance and song-writing process. Each member of Last of the Dinosaurs presents his own style in a way that gives this a group an amusing sound. Brian Carlson and Tom Kraemer began playing together as they studied finger-style guitar. Though they come from the same training, they are each influenced by different genres and bring elements of those to the Dinosaurs’ songs. The next member to join was Jeremy Hanson. Jeremy’s drumming alludes to Twin Cities hero, Dave King. Nevertheless, Hanson’s percussion has original and unique qualities that often shine overtop of the melodic elements in the songs. The second to last dinosaur to join was Jeremy’s longtime accompanist, Jesse Schuster, to play bass. The bass lines add a melodic, tone-changing element to unite and complete the musical ideas. The last dinosaur to join was Dan, who brings challenging lyrics and a fifth voice to the band. Because each member represents a different approach, Last of the Dinosaurs’ songs are lead by the combination of each instrument, rather than an individual part. The interweave of guitars, rhythmic techniques of the drums, and the bridge between the two created in the bass lines each form complex songs presented in the simplest way possible. Whether playing to a jazz, rock, funk, or indie audience, Last of the Dinosaurs’ music can be appreciated.
